I've got between 400-500 orchids currently, but it's been a tough winter and I've not yet managed to remove all my losses from the list. Repotting is coming soon for some of them, but fortunately, most of mine are mounted.

I have 3 NOID phals. I recently relocated from Barbados to Canada. In Barbados I had close to 40 but I can't find anywhere here that sells them except for the grocery store and they only sell phals. I wouldn't mind getting back a Den or a Catt also but I'm reasonably content with these three right now since I believe I still have to get used to the colder climate where the whole plant thing is concerned. It was easy in Barbados , they were outside 24/7 so they got all the light and all the rain and wind that they wanted. Anybody out there living in canada specifically northern Ontario , I wouldn't mind some advice on how you do it.

I'm in the throes of tidying up my collection, entering everthing on a database (name, flower colour, etc.) and discovered, to my astonishment that I have 157! And I've got two more coming by post.

Who would have thought that a gift from my Dad of two Cymbidiums, a couple of Dendrobium speciosums and some D. kingianums would have resulted in this?

This is a dockrillia orchid from Papua New Guinea. It's Dockrillia fuliginosa 'Black Glow' x self
and it's a little darker than this in real life.

    Cool looking dockrilla!
My orchid catalog is the name on the image file of each orchid on my computer. So in order to be in my 'database', it must have been in flower for me at some point. Not the best system, but it's all I have so far. I haven't gotten to the point of starting an Excel file yet.

I started growing orchids about 2 years ago. Started with a NOID Phal. on sale after valentines day. I now have 47 orchids, from many different genera.

I have only 16 but, i can't stop either. According to my wife, its all i talk about...I have filled a large portion of my kitchen, and now i'm spreading into other rooms! I agree with you when you said there are just too many awesome kinds....if i lived closer to shows i would probably have to build an addition to my house...LOL

Aww, I'm totally greenishly envious *drooling over some posts*
I'm actually giving away all the duplicates now, trying to cut the number from about 50 to 30-35, to be able to stuff them all into the only suitable room with Eastern facing windows for winter. *sigh*
Can't forget a sunny-coloured Denbrocium Phalaenopsis from a flower shop though :-D *counting on paws*
