    Default Maxillaria tenuifolia help!

Hi all! New orchid owner here...

I purchased a maxillaria tenuifolia from a botanical garden sale about ~5 months ago, about 2 months ago I moved it from the original pot to some organic orchid mix - I think it's some mix of spaghnum moss and tree bark. Trouble is, ever since I moved it it hasn't grown, and in fact has gotten worse. There was a period of time when I left it outside to fend for itself, and the heat caused the pseudobulbs to wrinkle pretty badly. Since then, i've been afraid to leave it outside for fear of further wrinkling, but I don't think the indoors has enough heat/humidity to keep it happy.

Should I break up the pseudobulbs and take out the old shriveled ones/replant it in a more snug pot?

    Thanks for any advice!

    Hi Welcome!
I haven't managed to make mine flower yet (had it 2 years)... mine is potted in medium sized bark and charcoal.
All I can definitely tell you is that these love water. If you soak it for quite a few hours you will see that the P/bulbs will puff out as long as you have live roots.
Hope an expert chimes in here & good luck!

Keep it watered well -not wet, but moist. Give it lots of bright, filtered light. This Maxillaria tenuifolia will grow and step up out of the pot. This is normal and you should just let it grow.

    cheers,
    BD
