    Default 4 O'clocks

My boyfriend and I got a bunch of these plants as seedlings from one of his aunts. We had so many that we just planted them around our apartment building and they rewarded us nicely. The flowers are either totally yellow, totally pink, or some combination of the two, all on the same plant. I still sometimes have a hard time believing that the mosaic pattern on the leaves is real!

4 o'clocks are such nice plants, easy to grow and lovely to look at. Seems like yours did very well!

I've never ever seen anything like it! How cool is that!

It's like the plant has no idea what to wear for the evening... so in light of it's indecisiveness and it being pretty.. it must be a girl

    cheers

Wow--that's something else--those are gorgeous! We don't have colors like that on any around here either.

Quite amazing how a plant can have two different colors. Love the bright and dazzling colors--yellow and pink are so cheery!

I saw my boyfriend's aunt this weekend and asked her a little more about the 4 o'clocks. She said that she got them from a friend who got them in Italy. So these are Italian 4 o'clocks. They do seem to be enjoying themselves here in the US though. They're making seeds like crazy! The plants in the picture were grown from seed this summer so they do quite well. I've read that 4 o'clocks make tubors in the ground as well so we'll see if they survive the winter.

    Default 4 O'Clocks

I thought they were weeds until I saw them being sold at a flower show...LOL They take over my yard every spring. If you don't get the whole root, they'll come up next year & they seed like crazy, so even if you get the whole plant, the seeds sprout soon after. Not a good picture, but all mine are this color. I now let patches grow in certain areas of the yard.

Those are really beautiful and once you have them you usually will have them forever, though they might revert back to a solid color in a couple of years.
    The Hummingbirds love them.
