    Default Cute Lil' African Violet

I took this pic a while ago...the plant was in a 1.5" pot and is sort of a "miniature" variety. The double flowers are quite interesting. It's sort of a reluctant bloomer so I put it near a brighter windowsill and now it has some tiny buds.

That is darling. They are really putting out some great AVs, both standard and mini. Doubles, Picotees, blends, varigated. A full grown mini will live happily in a tea cup and saucer (makes a cute display) - just drill a hole in the bottom of the tea cup and set in the saucer with some water in it - voila! self watering planter. I have one in an old china cup.

I do LOVE that mini. I have 2 mini's, but neither are blooming with that vigor or beautiful color, man what a nice color!
I think the woman at the greenhouse I bought them from called them "Dandies", is that for real or a local lady-ism?

I am so not drilling a hole in the Minton tea set!!!

However, I do have a couple of self watering pots that might just 'need' an AV. And one like your's seems like a good one to start with Lily!

That's really nice, Lily. AVs are another plant I've never tried growing, though my mom used to. Cool about your getting more buds on it with some higher light!

Love the blue color, Lily! Ever since Diane posted her AV thread I have been wanting to try growing one of these. I know...the greenhouse is too hot to grow AV's. I wonder if I could grow one in the bathroom window? Hmmm?

    Cheers!

LOL!! Same thing goes with me. I adore AVs but they don't like me.

That is so cool Lily, I love the blue color and the double petals.

Yes, AVs do well on windowsills (especially in bathrooms where it tends to be more humid). Just make sure they don't get direct sun or the leaves will burn, but enough to make them happy and flowering. Good luck if you're going to give them a try!

And also, thanks everyone for the compliments...
