The label says "ionocidium hybrid". The Kew Index does not know Ionocidium. Neither does our friend Jay.
Now you may look at it, and say - ah that's an Ionopsis ( Ionumia). I have that ( or some of) in the collection too - and whilst there is a superficial similarity, it is not the answer - Ionumia tends towards being terete leaved ( the books say that it is "more or less" - my plants are, but less ... but this plant is just like a little Oncidium in respect of the bulbs, leaves, growths etc. Also of the flowers to some extent.
Again, If you look at Ionopsis sideways you see a tubular flower, flared out at the ends of the bell - I put in the 4th pic here to show the difference. No conjoining of petals or sepals here.
Sizes ? Flowers perhaps 15-20mm high and 12mm or so wide at the widest part of the lip.
BTW I have another plant, maybe from the same source, or maybe not, same name, in spike.
    What is it ?
The correct answer ( I'm not sure who can be the judge ? )wins the 64000 dollars prize ( that's Bournemouth dollars, not US dollars, btw )

Can't help you with the name, alas. Nice flowers. I have heard of "Ionocidium" before but rarely see them even on the internet. Memory is foggy but I thought most were crosses of Ionopsis and Tolumnia (formerly classed as Oncidium as you know).

Could be a Comparettia x Oncidium hybrid.

No hybrids were made with Ionopsis as the capsule parent, however three were made with Ionopsis as the pollen parent, and by process of elimination (the other two crosses would not give the right results) I believe your plant is Ionocidium Seewatloppen (Oncidium baueri x Ionopsis utricularoides) registered by C. I. Lafleur in 1970.

I find this to be very believable - and quite impressive too !.
Thanks. I have made my label.

By theory, yes, they carry the same weight in terms of DNA. But RNA plays a huge result in how genes are expressed, and as it turns out, the maternal parent outweighs the paternal parent there. (Up to 85%) Not an accident that the offspring will favor the pod parent in terms of color more often than not, depending on the dominance of the pollen parent.
