5 of my orchids are spiking at the moment. Phal Black Jack, 3 Phals NOID's and Phal Schilleriana which I tricked to make it bloom I hope that my Phal Philippinesis will join them soon. I can't wait for my winter blooms!
Actually 2nd picture in the first post is Phal Manhattan Spot
Good going! They look happy...are you using the LECA with SH or as "normal" media?

Great job! I love this time of year when the phals start to spike. So much anticipation for those blooms that brighten up those long gloomy winter months.
great! may i know how do your 'tricked' the schilleriana into bloom? many thanks
Great growing. Like Ian, I would love to know too.
It certainly is nice to be rewarded for your efforts. Good Growing and enjoy the up and coming blooms! AL
I keep my two Schilleriana's and one Philippinesis in an old 60 liter fish tank with a small fan installed inside. I keep them at temp 20C-34C and humidity at 60-75. I kept them in the tank for a few months. They grew a bit, produced new leaves and many many roots. One day I took one Schilleriana out of the tank just to cause temperature drop. I kept it outside tank for a few days with the window open at night. A few days later after I put it back inside the tank it showed a flower spike. I did the same with my Philippinesis recently I have noticed one flower spike about 4mm long and another one emerging the other Schilleriana doesn't show any signs of spiking.
