Default Ascda Princess Mikasa spike problem

This is the second "blooming" this year. Over the summer, the spike and blooms were normal. This time the spike appears to have gotten stuck at the tip and cannot grow out from between the leaves. The buds are "opening" inside the plant. Is this normal from time to time and what should I do about it?? Thanks in advance..

    -K.

Well, I already performed surgery and removed the...um...spike, so no pictures. The blooms were splitting the leaves do I felt it better to remove it and try again. I'm thinking it was a fluke, hopefully it'll be right next time.

It happens to mine too. I try and pull them out...but sometimes they break on me. The ones that do it on mine are semi terete. The leaves grow sort of tubular and it's difficult for the spike to push the tube open enough to grow up and out. I have two that I have to watch and try to redirect the spikes early so they don't get trapped.
