Preparing mount materiel

I am planning on using a piece of fir bark from my firewood pile to mount with and am wondering what sort of preperations I need to take. Do I need to spray it with a pesticide or fungicide first or ??? Thanks

Travis, if the piece isn't too big, many people just boil the wood or cork for about fifteen minutes to get rid of any pests / diseases. That has a far greater likelihood of killing the nasties on the inisde that a spray may not reach.
