Is this an Aussie Den. hybrid?
An unusual look -- reminds me more of some of the catts. I like it. Interesting that bigibbum does not seem to have contributed anything to the flower's form.
I concur, Pavel. Here we refer to this type of dendrobe as Australian dendrobiums on account of the shape of the blooms which is greatly influenced by Den kingianum another Aussie native, and which also imparts its fragrance to its offsprings. I may be wrong about this particular dendrobe and it may have no kingianum in its parentage. Any way a very pretty dendrobe!
How lovely!!!! I have become an instant Aussie den. fan - especially if it has a fragrance. Do they grow them in the US?
Don't get overly set on kingianum hybrids. They are very nice but the current breeding lines using D. tetragonum & D. speciosum background ( some close, some distant) are producing outstanding plants & flowers.
