    Default Yellow Oncidium in Bloom

I felt compelled to post a picture of this to try to measure up to some of the excellent orchid blooms that have been posted lately. I moved this yellow Oncidium back a spot next to the Moth, because I thought the contrast between its colors and the Moth's colors were awesome. I won't post these individually because I recently posted the Moth picture the last time it spiked (Dtps. Champion Lightning 'M'), and I'm somewhat ashamed that the Oncidium only had six flowers this time. The Oncidium is a Noid, and should have had twenty blooms at least, but I screwed up and it sucked the life back out of the upper buds and stopped at six.

I recently repotted both of them and divided the Oncidium. Next time the Oncidium should be good. Probably the other new one too. I was worried about the Moth's potting media when it was blooming in March, so I chopped the spike with eight flowers off, stuck it in a vase, and repotted it. Apparently it was in better shape than I thought, because this spike started shortly thereafter and has seven buds so far. I guess it showed me! LOL

The flowers didn't last too long in the vase with water. The waxy looking Moths do a lot better in a vase than the fuzzy looking ones.

Anyway, I hope some of you like this as much as I did.

A very pretty phalaenopsis! The 'oncidium' is most probably a Brassidium (Brassia x Oncidium) or a Miltonidium and not a pure Oncidium.
