Usually Vandacious plants are placed in baskets, not potted.

I would go with a basket with some potting mix. Large redwood bark and maybe some lava rock if you can water often.

    cheers,

Renanthera are great plants. You will love the way they branch and the amazing array of flowers they have on one flower spike. I look forward to seeing pics when it blooms for you.

I think it depends on where you are growing it

i have a Ren. imschootiana. it came in a plastic vanda basket, 4" size i think. it is very attached, and did bloom, so it is okay, but i would rather have it in a treefern pot or small clay pot with a bark mix. i think it would look better and be happier. it is very dry here. in florida i imagine they do better in baskets. i am tucking some moss and charcoal into the basket around the roots for summer. that might not work in a more humid place.
