While this plant can flower, the flowers are pretty insignificant when they do make an appearance.

great color
From the thread title I was expecting Bulbos, lol.
Wow! That is rich!
Is it a relative of coleus?
Really an attractive plant. I use to plant flowerbeds with similar colored foliage plants, but lately cannot get them locally anymore.
cheers,

Not a terribly close one. Both belong to Order Lamiales -- which also includes plants as diverse olive trees, snapdragons, and jasmine -- but that is as close as they get. So two taxonomic levels from genus. To put it in what may be a more familiar taxonomic relationship frame, all orchids belong to the same Family ... which is a level down from Order. So a Cattleya, Pleurothallid, and a Cypripedium are more closely related to each other than a coleus is to a Strobilanthes.
Bruce, with your having a greenhouse, you could likely overwinter these without any issue at all and use them in succeeding years.
