    Jenn through my experience the flava form is very difficult to produce spike if spike formation form another issue arise will they through away the buds, if buds available can they progress to beautiful flowers, so to overcome those problem what I noticed gave adequate amount of light 6 to 8 hours usually it will rewarded you with wonderful flowers.May be you can try it.
