My Cymbidium was purchased with one spike in bloom. Another spike was formed and ready to bloom and a 3rd spike, just emerging from its pod (? don't know the technical name at the present, feel free to educate me!).
Now that the second spike is nearly fully open, I was examining the third spike. I noticed that one of the flower buds is a double bud.
In all my months of orchid growing experience, I have never seen this. Is it common?
I will update with a new image once the bud opens.
2 images. The open flower and the double bud.

You aren't likely to see it often. When it opens, there might be twisting of parts as well.
Nice green CYM.what is the white thing on the leaf?
Just water spots that were shown from the flash. Probably from the worm tea misting.
That is water spotting likely from the worm tea misting. The camera's flash helps highlight the spotting which is not that apparent just looking at it.
I used to grow cyms in California. Sometimes I had a Siamese twin bloom....they were fused blooms when they flowered.
I have seen fused buds and blooms infrequently in other genera. Please post of pic of that flower when it opens.
A very popular flower for the Chinese New Year here in Hong Kong.
Interesting...i would also like to see this flower when it opens. I have a similar situation with a Laeliocattleya right now in bloom. Its not very established yet for pictures. Ive never seen this personally...but some hybrids are funky sometimes
