    Cool Cymbidium tease

Would love to see your pics!
NO WONDER my cyms never re-bloom: Southern CA is the climate they like, and I am stuck up here in the Northeast! We can only get them in the winter here--they are supposedly cold growers, but I GUESS NOT!
I only once got one to set buds in the fall after leaving it outdoors, only to have them drop off one by one. I love them so much, but I have given up!

I should think a Cym would do well in Massachusetts. I would pot it and let it get plenty of sun in the summer, maybe on a porch but be sure to bring it in before it freezes in the Fall. They will enjoy our cold snaps though. You just won't be able to leave it outside year round. A colder room in the house ought to do it though.

Of course, really I shouldn't talk since I haven't been all that successful with them myself yet, but hears hoping!

Here in Auckland I grow mine ouside on the east of my house and they flower every year. They do like bright light so mine get full morning sun till noon and they need a diurnal range to instigate spike development and we have quite cool nights here even in summer (sometimes 10 degrees celsius) so that helps with the flowering. I put slow release fertiliser in the pot and water them with a hosepipe when I do the garden. No problem. Couple of pics for interest.

Absolutely gorgeous Cyms, Marketkid. I love em. BTW, I just have ordered 5 new Cyms. I killed my first one this year putting it in a mix that was supposed to be exclusive to Cyms. Mine didn't like it.

I am lucky here in that the climate suits Cyms so no special deal, I just grow them as pot plants outside under the eaves of the house. I also just use ordinary orchid bark that I buy from the local nursery and it works fine. I add slow release (2 years) fert called Magamp and water regularly, divide when they outgrow the pots and that's about it.

I guess each area has it's advantages as I can't grow Vandas, Mokaras etc without a big heating bill so I stick to the cool growing varieties, but love my Cyms and Dens anyway.

Well, when you 'hit' like this one- oh wow! It makes up for the misses.
