The last of the 'spree-let' paphs came today and this is it.

A compact growing plant with a 12" spike standing almost straight up. The petals do curl up behind and one side is not visible in the photo. It does have some fresh growth as well as the single flower. One leaf appears to have cold damage.

I'm sad that it suffered cold damage on the transport. I think the orchid will survive but I am certain it will lose at least one leaf from the cold. Do you think I should prepare to remove the affected part of the leaf when it starts dying back? Treat wound with cinnamon. That might save 1/3 of that leaf.

It will just be a cosmetic thing. I sometimes cut the bad ends of leaves off. I assume you had the plant shipped to you? If so, you're brave. I don't order anything this time of year, even with heat packs.

I have had about a dozen shipped in since December and besides packing issues that allowed damage in shipping, this is the first cold damage. But we have had a rather warm Nov-Jan with a 5 day cold snap here and there. We've been mostly above normal temps here in Denver metro. And we are also behind in snowfall by 2/3 for this point in the season. But the mountains of Colorado are having an excellent snow season.

I have 2 more orders outstanding (no paphs) and one is scheduled for after 2/18 (Backordered items holds the entire order). The other could ship Monday and we are forecast to be up to 58F thru till Wednesday at least. But this is Colorado and the forecast can change quickly. But it is the pattern we are in.

Yeah, we've been pretty warm this year also, but it is still getting down in the teens at night. It will probably be at least April before I order anything online.

Wonderful bloom. I have not had good luck with this type of Paph. May give it one more try, but I think my growing conditions are not suitable.

Maybe it's beginners luck, but I now have 10 paphs, 6 have been around for 2 months or longer now. I don't think I have lost a single leave off of one of them other than leaves that were damaged (most were bent close to the crown) before I got the plant. But of course, there is plenty of time for things to change and go bad. But so far, so good for my paphs. One from my spree-let is a bit beat up from the voyage to Colorado. The rest are either adding leaves or blooming.

And maybe I just over care them, but worth any amount of work given them!

Very pretty. Unfortunately can't grow them in our hot lowlands.
