it's easier to answer if you post a picture. but basically, if it has roots in the air, along the stem, cut it off where it has some roots still and pot it up. if there are leaves further down the stem than where you cut, it might very well produce a new branch. you can search the term 'topping vanda' and get instructions. keep the roots misted well until you see new growth again.

That's right. Believe it or not, many vandaceous plants are really "vines", so that is to be expected.

The rule of thumb is to leave three good size roots above where you cut the main stem.

Look in a post that I put up here sometime ago "Please name this orchid" and you will see one that I have in a concrete pot on my front porch, I still have it in that pot and it is now over seven feet tall and has been getting taller and blooming since about a year or so now, it is out in my yard now though still in the pot and in full sun from morning till evening, I wanted to cut it shorter but every time I attempted to do so I would see another flower spike appearing, and the roots are all over the place too, I also have about six more vanda at the side of my home next to a wall and they have all rooted on to the wall but there is a problem there, they are getting taller and have attached the roots to the wall but I realized that they want to have full sun and that part is only in the sun about two hours or so each day, so that is a big problem for me they will not flower now at all it seems, I want to cut them shorter but I am afraid I may stop them from flowering a longer time again, but good luck to you
