Talking Prince Edward of York, back by popular demand

So here it is in full bloom now. Petals have reached a length of twelve and something-or-other inches, almost thirteen, with a natural spread of--I forgot to measure.

In Wossnerian measurement, natural spread= "Dang Well Wide Enough".

I'm pretty happy, considering this is its first bloom. Other than that color break in the dorsal of that topmost flower, on the whole, it turned out rather nice.

That's lovely Louis! I love the spotting on the petals on that one. I'm kinda into the spotty ones.

Thanks for posting! Beautiful plant, blooms and picture. You already know that PEOY is my number 1 favorite primary multifloral Paph hybrid! Mine is still young but close to blooming size.

Thanks, guys. One day, I'm sure, I *will* learn to turn the fan off *and* hold the camera straight when I take a picture.

    I will, I will, I will.

    One day.

Absolutely gorgeous flowers and pics! Great form & clean color. Wossner Sandroth is by far my favorite paph hybrid. Do you know the cultivars used on that one?

I hope to shoot pics of mine next week when all the flowers open...

Jason, it's roth 'Janet' FCC X sandy 'Daddy Long Legs', so it has some pretty decent folks!

That's a very nice cross! I have an excellent Paph roth 'Janet' FCC/AOS.

Lja, I actually like my other roth cross better, the most awarded and sought after Paph rothschildianum 'Rex' FCC/AOS x 'Mont Millais' FCC/AOS.

Almost every plant I've seen from that 'Rex' x 'MM' outcross has been excellent. The worst ones I've ever seen were on the A&P sale table at the 2004 NY show, and those were still somewhat better than the average 'Charles E' x 'Borneo' roth. In fact, I got one from this outcross a few months ago, but got a rather ratty plant from the seller which basal rotted within 2 days. The USPS hastened its demise by "aging" it in their wine cellars, though. But I digress. I saw the most spectacular roths I've ever seen at the 2004 NY show, a cut spike from Tokyo Orchids. While the specific cross was not labeled, I am 98% sure it is the Rex x MM strain.
