Adjustment period for orchids in leca?

Do orchids go through an adjustment period when being transplanted into s/h? I recently transplanted 3 cymbidiums I purchased. After the 1st week, the bulbs seem to be drying out, even though there is water in the bottom of the pot. Is this expected, or an I right to worry?

The time to transfer to LECA is at the time of new root growth. Most times the current root system will die back for they are not adapted for that type of culture.
