    Sometimes the orchids get these blotches when they have had too much light/ heat. You have a nice plant. try moving it back from the window a bit and keep an eye on it.

    I thought some of you might want to know how this phal is doing.

    I did few more applications back in august, that syrup-like stuff did not come back. Phal did lost few leaves but now I think its doing ok. It grows new leaf (deformed though, I think due to alcohol got much inside the crown and dried new leaf) and few new roots.
