I think a very famous reference is actually showing the light pink-purplish form of Aerides odorata in its photo for this species.
I am very happy with this plant. As you can see, it has 9 spikes. Very light fragrance. Unfortunately, flowers at the base start drying up long before the ones at the apex of the spike open.

And, you are correct. The individual blooms are only about a cm. across.
