    Talking Orchid Collecting Self Control?

OK so my monthly local orchid society meeting is coming up. Last month I came home with 3 new Phals.

This months meeting the speaker is talking on Heirloom Cattleyas and bringing some to sell......somebody needs to reel me in!

If I go to hear the speaker, I will have no self control for a Catt getting in my car with me to come home.

Should I make this a poll to see how many of you would bring home some too or show self control?

IMO, if you don't want to buy, don't go where they are for sale.

It is the only way I have found to not increase my collection's size. And don't look at them on-line either.

Go. But decide exactly what criteria (size, bloom color, type) a new acquisition has to meet before you would buy it. Then you can be selective on adding to your collection. With limited growing space it is how I "improve" my collection. Give away or trade ones you've bloomed as your criteria change over time. But... if one REALLY impresses you take it but limit to one plant. If ever in Asheville on 2nd Sunday, drop by the WNCOS meeting.

Unless it causes any headache on your wallet, what's the need for self control?

    Go ahead and enjoy it!

I like the red and orange one. I don't believe in "self control", I'm pretty sure that's an oxymoron....

As long as you purchase 3 or fewer orchids at each opportunity, and you can still buy food for the kids and the cat, your self-control is admirable.
