Hi Y'all,
Just wondering if there are any thoughts on good varieties that are fragrant and bright red that would like a bright, East facing window with a couple of T8s. I think the lows on my window are around 60, and the highs at most would be 80 in the summer...but probably a bit less.
I'm trying to design a collection that will always have something seasonally in bloom, something fragrant, and a rainbow of colors as well. I'm very excited. I plan to collect these over a period of years, so I've got lots of planning/wishing/taking advice time.
So far I found some great yellows, oranges, pinks, browns/burgundies, purples, and greens as far as flower colors go. Here is the list I've gotten so far, let me know if a genus here might have a nice red color and fragrance:
also, feel free to correct my capitalization, I'm practicing and trying to remember but will likely forget which is what.
Oncidiums:
Oncidium Sharry Baby
Oncidium Twinkle
Paphiopedilums:
Paphiopedilum primulinum
Paphiopedilum delenatii
Papiopedilum Pinocchio
Phalaenopsis...anything fragrant
Lycaste aromatica
Lyc campbellii
Lycaste Pixie
Brassade
Brassia
Encyclia Cochleata (I hear different things about this one...some say it needs tons of light and others say it's adaptable...thoughts?)
Psychopsis
Zygopetalums
Encyclia Cochleata needs bright filtered light. High light like oncidiums.
cheers,
BD
