LOL You two! The only thing holding me back right now is not being able to go shopping. Living 70 miles from the nearest place you might even see an orchid to buy does help to keep all that in check! However, we will do our monthly trip on the 30th and I hope to see something I like at one of the big box stores or whatever and spend some money I made this week... hehe And our dentist is right next to a store that sells a lot of orchids, we are going for a teeth cleaning Thursday, maybe I can sneak out for a few minutes... It's been a long time!

Same here, but I am about 2 hours away from a big box store that might carry something beside phals. I am going to that town on Tuesday so I plan to check. I think I might be able to fit one or two more in. I set up a small plastic, walk-in greenhouse inside my house which is working out amazingly well considering how cheap it was.

You would be surprised how many mounted you can hang off the shelves in your greenhouse. I have mounted orchids hanging off of pots hanging from chains from ceiling hooks. I have 22 ceiling hooks total.

Harvey is right you would be surprised what you can do in so little a space with hanging things everywhere. I am lucky enough that all my orchids are outside year round and even then I hang smaller orchids on bigger ones all the time.

I've already done quite a bit of modification to this little greenhouse. They call it a three tier worth of shelving but that includes the floor. I'm not using much of the floor but discovered I can mount the removable wire floor shelves to the side then hang mounted orchids from them. I saw a way to hang a square plastic pot with a bit of moss in it from the wire then put the mounted plant in the pot. Helps to keep it moist. This is just for the winter. I have a good size shade house that most of them will go in for the summer.

Today I built a shelf that sits right over the cool air humidifier for my cool growers. They were doing fine until I starting using my wood stove to heat the house. They pinched up their little leaf tips in protest. I think they will be happier in the humid chamber.

It is bad, too. Every time I go to the post office the clerk says "I thought you said the last shipment was the last one." And I keep answering "THIS is the last one."

That is one reason I probably won't ever use my fireplace unless it is an emergency. Too dry! Especially when I struggle to provide any humidity during the winter.

I think I have accepted the fact that no matter how much I think I have bought my last orchid (for even a couple months) that I will buy more.

Unfortunately, the wood stoves are my only heat. I was resisting using them but my cats were getting ticked off because it was so cold in the morning. I kept trying to make them understand that the milts won't like it if I get a fire going. That's how I know I am going crazy. I am all bundled up trying to keep warm so my cool loving orchids will be happy. The greenhouse within the house became a necessity.

I'm not going to order any more until next year....but I might buy more if there just happens to be one for sale in front of me that I just can't resist because it is a pretty color or needs rescuing or isn't a phal but maybe a phal is okay if it is a pretty color or needs rescuing....
