good evening. I have a post blooming Phalaenopsis that has a name on the plastic pot but I am unable to read the last part of its name. The first part is "Steam", but the rest is smudged away. Any ideas as to what it might be named? Online searching for Phalaenopsis Steam does not give me any leads.
Thanks!
you got a piccy?
Sorry, it was not in bloom when I purchased it. The plant itself looks like all of my other regular Phalaenopsis.
How about you post pic of label maybe someone else will be more lucky to read.
I have a feeling maybe it was just saying that it was steam propagated?!
There really isn't a label. It is printed on the side of the clear plastic pot it is in. I have purchased several other Phal's, which also had the names printed on the sides, and I was able to search online and find info. Its just that the last half of this one is smudged beyond recognition, although it looks like there were 4-5 other letters.
Thank you for your suggestion.
There is no registered Phal hybrid (or any species for that matter) with the letters [s t e a m] in that order it its name. And I can't find any evidence of a Phal with [s t e a m] in a cultivar name either. Or any orchid breeder or seller. Posting a pic of the label to see if anyone has a different interpretation might be helpful.
Thank you for your reply and for your research. Unfortunately, there was no tag with the plant, only the printing on the side of the pot, along with some numbers. My other Phal's that had names printed on their pots in the same way, also had numbers, but none of them showed up in any descriptions, so I am "assuming" they were added for a companies inventory. I hope that when it blooms again (being quite positive, aren't I?), I can get a clear photo to post and ask for information at that time.
I do appreciate everyones help and thank you all for taking the time to post a reply.
I think you are now in need of a bloom cycle. With a good image of the flower, we'll be able to narrow it down.
My thanks to all who have posted suggestions. I got to thinking that perhaps I was missing something about the name on the side of the pot and took another look at it. Sure enough, more came through when photographed and here are a few photos which I hope will help.
There is this: 110994 Phalaenopsis onvertakt Floriclone Steamy Window from this link

Looks like the next word on the pot starts with a 'W'
