UPDATE It's been almost a year since I did this air layering and most of us weren't sure that it was going to work because I didn't do it in the right place.
But I got a call from my Buddies who owns the tree (it's huge!), and they said that the bottle is full of roots! Hope they're right. They want me to come tomorrow to check it out and cut if off if that's true.
My question to those who are familiar with this plant since I've already lost 3 plants due to root rot and other causes and this is my last attempt at getting one to grow in my yard.
What kind of soil mixture should I use? Pot (Plastic clay and size) and location. I know that it's an Epiphyte and therefore should be treated similar to an orchid. However, I tried using the same perlite and moss mixture that works well with all my orchid, but the last Medinilla plant that I purchased didn't like it and died.
Any input would be appreciated. Mahalo from Kauai.
