Lc. Gaskell Pumila (now Cattleya) is the bluest orchid I have. Actually, if I look back I cannot remember it being this blue ever before. The hybrid was registered in 1918 by the mustard king Colman.
A third bud is emerging to the left.
That is an incredible colour!! Well grown too!

Thanks.
I find this orchid quite finicky or unpredictable, simply. It jumps one or two years between blooming many times and I have no idea why. That is something I have observed for many of those Brazilian Cattleyas that used to be considered Laelias. They also seem to carry that that finicky trait to primary hybrids.
Such a beauty, well done!
I like the coloring and it looks quite healthy!
Thanks.
This plant grows fast. To make it bloom is quite a different challenge. I begin to think that photo period is part of the solution.
It is amazing color!
I love the color! I have nothing even close to that!
Such a beautiful 'blue' cattelya !
Thanks everyone. Again, I cannot recall that it ever was this blue before. We took pictures of it some years ago and it was dark purple maybe but not blue like this.
