The top pic is surely faciferum, but what went wrong loading the second pic ? looks like a cymbidium to me ?

And, do you think your plant is a typical colour (flowers) ? I do have a plant in my collection but it has not yet flowered - bought earlier this year, and a good clump of canes, but I think not quite up to FS yet ; and I have not seen live flowers. The IOSPE pic shows a much more intense reed ; the explanations may be a bit of photoshoppery, a better clone, or maybe culture affects it. I'd like to hear your comments ?

Hello Geoff, You are right the last picture was a Cymbidium. I noticed it when I posted it but could not edit and remove the picture.

Coming to faciferum species, the color of the species seem to be varied ranging from alba->Yellow->Orange->Red. Mine is between Orange and Red.

It belongs to section crumenata and seem to be blooming whenever there is a drop in temperature and is a nice one to have.

This is a characteristic of this Section. The type, here, is D. Crumenata itself, the"pigeon" orchid, which is siad to bloom 10 days after a heavy thunderstorm has lowered theair temperature quickly, in Singapore.

I have just been researching this species, to put details into my Dendrobium database ; my plant is growing in an enclosure currently running at about 18-20 at night (the temperature in my garden is varying between about 2 and 6 deg.C by the small hours. this month ) . I had been wondering if my plant would be warm enough, and the answer is maybe , since I see that in the wild it goes down to about 22 at night in the coolest month, although very little more at any night time. I guess your temperatures in Bangalore must be about ideal for this unless you are too warm for it in the summer.
My info on the plant is from baker & baker, and as to your temperatures - from Google.

I think it needs more heat. I was earlier growing it inside my shade house and used to be reluctant bloomer. I moved it out doors where it gets direct sunlight (~ Max temperature is around 35 C in summers and around 27 C now) and min is around 22 C in Summers and around 15 C now. It seem to be liking it and growing well and blooming whenever there is a drop in temperature or after a rain, similar to its cousin D.crumenatum.
