    Default Angraecum sesquipedale

This year, my Agcm. sesquipdale produced three giant flowers. The biggest was more than 16.1 cm across (~6.3 inches) and the spur close to 30 cm (12 inches). The oldest flower is about 3 weeks so the flower tips started to get brown as you can see.

I love them when they open and are lime green.

Beautiful! All of the sesquipdale I've seen do bloom but the plants are never healthy looking. WTG!

    Thanks.

The white marks are not marks actually. That's what you see on any plant that is described as having glaucous leaves. That means dark green with a coating that is waxy with a white, grey, sometimes blueish appearance. You see the same thing on the leaves of Rhyncholaelia digbyana and glauca (as in glaucous).

Angraecum Lemforde is a classic hybrid that can tolerate a somewhat cooler climate than sesquipedale.

Thanks for the info. Good to know. I have never heard of glaucous leaves before.

It has an extremely strong scent at night. It is pleasant in a big room from a distance. Up close, the scent is too strong. The moth has to sneak up and do that though - poor thing.
