    Default Flame Tree

I went out this afternoon looking for a blooming tree that is low enough for me to photograph and I found this one near the town's recreation center.

That is a wonderful tree. I believe that it is a (Delonix Regia) Royal Poinciana or in that family.

Yes they do grow in Fl, and can reach 40' We also have a Jacaranda tree that is lavender that is every bit as pretty, I think that they are cousins. Same kind of Mimosa leaves. Come on Down, if you like hurricanes!!!

Molly, I think you are right, it is the Delonix regia. The jacarandas are also in full bloom but they are too high for me. There is a tree though with purple flowers and big, look like hibiscus, and the tree are not too tall, and they are in bud........a couple of weeks more....maybe shorter
