A hybrid owing much to the spectabilis and morelianas currently on view inn other posts. Often named as Warns Best, but since it was registered ( about 1975 )by J.Milton Warne, (of Honolulu) I think my spelling for the varietal name must be right.
The first picture - of the whole plant - is much nearer the true colour. The one of the individual flower, put in to show you the shape and proportions better is not a true colour - I couldn't get it - and did a lot of fiddling about in photoshop with curves, without ( probably) making much improvement. Those spots, btw are hardly visible in real life.
Seen here with five flowering leads, about 13 flowers and 3 buds.
Not very long lasting, but that may be my culture after a rather torrid summer - temperatures up to 40 in the greenhouse from time-to-time......

Beautiful Geoff! Perhaps it is just the temps. In last years heat my moreliana/spectabilis flowers only lasted a week. This year with night temps around 6c - 45F, the one I posted on the 10th of August is showing no signs of wilting.
By the by, you do a beautiful job of staking. I'm hopeless at it.
