This is the first year it is going to open almost all its flowers - just a couple of buds blasted, so a big improvement here then. The plant always looks as though it is going to branch - produce extra growths , but never manages it ; for which reason I am going to change the culture slightly. It is in S/H using Hydrolag ( baked clay lumps )- the manufacturing technique is the same as making Perlite except using little clay pellets instead of large grains of sand, but the result is a different rate of the capillary action. I tried Perlite and it was too wet ; I think this is perhaps a shade too dry , so I intend to repot in Perlite + coarse alpine grit, cross my fingers, and stand back.
Such a bright cheerful plant, don't you think ?
BTW maybe its an Encylia now ? or a Prosthechea ? Should look it up in the Kew monocot list, but its time to go and sit with my wife, - she has been an orchid widow too long today.
Night night all......
