Odontioda question

Hey guys, thanks for the help with some of my earlier questions I have another one though. I have an odontioda (lovely penguin) that I have had for a little while now. I noticed the other day that the flowers are starting to get a dry look to them, they are crisping up. Before that, I noticed tip burn on one of the leaves, but couldn't remember if it was like that when I got it. Does anyone have any advice on how to keep it looking good or is this just natural? Thanks a lot.

My odontiodas bloom here in January when it is quite cool. It could be that the summer temps are starting to wear down the flowers and the leaves. Just try keeping it in a cool place and enjoying the blooms while you can. Mine last about a month in January.

I grow a few odontioda and have set up my growing area based on the top NZ gowers set up.
This is his basic setup conditions : -
60 - 70 % shade
water and fert very day
mist (overhead misting) 4 x per day regardless of time of year,2miniutes/time
if temp reaches 22 degress celeius overhead misting comes on for 2 mins.(this can be repeated through out the day)

Thanks a lot for the responses. I talked to one of the grad students at state about it as well and he told me that they had been in bloom for a while and the bloom is most likely just coming to an end.

I do have a couple more questions about the plant though. The end of the leaves are starting to yellow a little bit, and I see a couple brown speckles on the leaves. I was thinking this was just from too much light, but I'm not too sure about that.

I was thinking the flowers might just be spent. If it's been blooming for a while, that's probably what you're looking at. I always try and water a bit more for flowering plants, because those spikes, buds and blooms need a lot more "hydraulic pressure" to keep upright and happy (ie, more water).

Tips could be sun, or too much fert. Sounds more like sun, though. Pictures would help.

I go along with Julie a pic would help.
Normally if Odonts get to much light the leaves will get a red coloring but saying that anything with Odontoglossum crispum has this tendency naturally.
As for a few brown spots on the leaves ,that is not uncommon and yellowing at the leave tip can be quite a number of things
