Not trying to jump on your post here Geoff but a friend near me had this one bare root in a 4" - 10 c pot. Something to consider.

Plant currently has six leads, all in flower - 2 - 3 flowers per spike. Not all out yet of course, some buds showing colour, a few not quite that advanced.
Growing in a shallow seed tray, measuring about 15 x 8 inches, only a couple of inches deep - these plants have very short roots and do not need any depth.
Not quite making the impression I want, because the spikes are spaced out too far apart over the whole tray; I think of cutting it up into six pieces and rearranging in a tray half this size, or maybe wait for a few more growths - but they will probably simply extend over the edges of the tray and occupy still more space. But I have another plant in an 8 inch pot with a similar number of growths, but poorer flowers; perhaps I will cut that one up and plant as mentioned . The tray is definitely doing better than the pot, where the unused volume of compost perhaps keeps it all too wet.
