    Default Phragmipedium Acker's Beauty

This is my Phrag. Acker's Beauty, (Phrag. kovachii X lindleyanum). It is a smaller size plant in a 3x3x4 pot. It is a vigorous grower. It spikes from late April to July, producing a series of sequential pink/purple blooms about 4 inches across with rich text and a good substance to its petals. Blooms will last 1 to 2 weeks in my greenhouse. It is a cross created by Chuck Ackers just a 3 years ago.

That's a knock out Geeorge! Congratulations.
Wish I could grow Kovachii in the Keys but it's just way too hot. Even in a cross.
Maybe someday when it gets further back in the lineage there will be a warm growing hybrid that carries the size and color of kovachii.

Thank you! We can only hope. I am in Texas and it is hot here as well. I grow my "k"s close to the floor with a fogger and a small ac unit in my greenhouse.

I just made a cross yesterday between this Acker's Beauty and Peruflora's Spirit. I hope with more kovachii I will get larger flatter petals?????

Smashing color. One can see why kovachii created such a sensation when it was first discovered.

Thank You! Oh yes, everyone wants to create hybrids with them. Some of the hybrids are truly stunning.
