What beautiful flowers and colors. I'm sure an extra growth would be most welcome but this showing is fabulous in itself! Interesting information on growth habits.

My good old faithful Catt. Never seems to want throw an extra growth - always flowers on two. Somewhere between 20 and 30 flowers ( perhaps slightly up on the past) certainly a good bright colour, maybe a bit better than before. Has won "best Cattleya" for me in previous years, but wrong timing this year.
Not a true cattleya - actually ( if my memory serves me right) now Guaranthe - and this can be seen because all true cattleyas produce new growths from the rhizome lying exposed on top of the compost ; if you bury that, the eyes which develop into new growths, never do so. But bowringiana produces new growths from underground.
Enjoy !
