As I said in another posting today, my greenhouse was far too cold last night - down to 7 degrees C this morning. So when I went in, all the cattleyas in flower were a sorry mess, except this on . Even here- and I think the flowers only opend in the last few days , they are going off, with some spotting etc. But I guess the humidity went throught the roof - it goes up as the temperature goes down, so it is a bit of a miracle there was anything left to see.
I have quite a lot of catts in bud ; too soon to see if they will survive, but probably yes. The good thing is that all my plants needed watering,( and dry plants survive when wet ones rot) as I have so very little time to look after them, my time being spent in visiting my wife in hospital or care home, sometimes 4 times per day, always 3. After all I could ( but wonder if I would ?) replace my orchids should the need arise, but not my wife.....
