    Default Dendrobium friedericksianum

This was such a nice surprise for me! I had gone outside in early January to bring my orchids in because temps were going down to early 40sF. I noticed buds forming on one of the canes. I got so excited because this is the first time it has bloomed for me. I bought it in S. Florida 2 years ago with maybe 2 or 3 flowers on it and Zain helped identify it for meI'm a happy camper right now. Sorry for the bad photography. I think I need my eyes checked!!

    Isn't that nice!

There are so many people that say Dendrobium is easy. Maybe so, but you won't see a single flower produced by any of all those species or hybrids that need a serious dip in temperature unless you live where you can let them experience that. Every winter I have to remember to put my D. jenkinsii and aggregatum out on our porch when the nights are cold but frost free and then remember to take them back in again before the frost arrives.

Thanks Arne! Yes I just noticed a few spikes starting on my Lindleyis. Dendrobiums are really growing on me. They're hardier than my vanda types that I love so well.
