If it doesn't look like the one group is supporting the other, then go ahead and divide, but if they are helping each other out, best to leave them together to help with the recovery. Lots of growers pot these up with coconut fibers, which are brown and turn mushy and entangle the roots. That could be the lump in the middle that you found.
It's obviously been too wet. So pot it/them in the bark as I said and let them dry off for a bit. Remember - the wrinkled pbulbs will never plump back up to "normal", so don't overwater trying to make that happen. Concentrate on new roots and new growth!
