Default Brassavola nodosa 'Mas Mejor' AM/AOS - The Lady of the Night

Known as "La Dama de la Noche" ("The Lady of the Night") in its native haunts from Mexico down through Central America and into Peru, this orchid permeates the night air with its fragrance, which can be especially strong and far reaching on warm, humid nights. Amazingly enough, the scent is reasonably strong near the flower, but not overpowering, yet from a distance, the scent does not seem to diminish nearly as much as expected.

The flowers on this blooming have a spread of 4.5 inches (I have had them spread up to 5.5 inches before) The plant consists of semi-terete leaves on narrow pseudobulbs. I grow mine warm in bright light with reasonably frequent watering.

This is a division of a division of a division (not a mericlone) of the original awarded plant. It tends to grow rather rapidly into a mini-specimen.

    Enjoy!

It's interesting to me that the stiffness of the petals on yours is very similar to how stiff Pete's looked in the pic he posted (ages ago now, it seems.) The nodosa we have here has petals that are quite a bit droopier, but ours came from Jamaica. (We might have to rename ours wossner nododroop...) This is the thread with Pete's picture http://www.rv-orchidworks.com/orchid...=&threadid=115 so you can see what I mean.

when the flowers are larger on mine, they tend to be a little more droopy as well.

I thought maybe the species might be slowly changing but, maybe not.
