Hey guys, sorry for the levity. We can get so many ideas tangled in these threads.

It's pretty representative of our lives. Tragedy and grief bust in with no warning. We have to cope. But to survive through it, we ease our souls with laughter - sometimes over rather sick jokes! And then we get up the next day and go on. It's good we're durable. Life demands it.

I agree with you 100% Julie. Tami, that Methodist church right behind the monument is actually my families church. My great great grandfather built the original one down on the beach right where Cheeca Lodge is right now. Also my great grandfather helped build the new church behind the monument. At one point in time Islamorada used to be called Pinderville which my grandmother's maiden name. My family history in Islamorada runs all the way back to when Islamorada was first populated.

Wow Aaron it is really wonderful that you have all of that family history, I hope that it is written down somewhere. Has someone in the family kept a family bible or something with the history?

It's all been pretty well doccumented through the church, and from historians of the keys. They have what is called "The Book of Names" which consists of every family that first inhabited the keys, and the order they came there in. Although alot of the true conchs don't live down there anymore. It was really quite funny the first time I ever brought Kim down there... I had told her stories about how I couldn't go anywhere without seeing someone I know, or someone who is family. She was sceptical until I brought her there, and she saw that every where we went I saw cousins or family friends. At my grandmother's funeral she was a bit overwhelmed because there was about350 people there, and about 300 of them were family. I told her, "and to think... there a quite a few people who couldn't make it!"
