Does anyone know anything about using potassium chloride salt instead of sodium chloride salt in water softeners? Will potassium ions affect the orchids similar to the way sodium ions do?

Does anyone know anything about using potassium chloride salt instead of sodium chloride salt in water softeners? Will potassium ions affect the orchids similar to the way sodium ions do?
