No idea of it,s age but i did have a tiny spike earlier in the year but i removed it so that the plant had a chance to "bulk up".

Did it get some new growth on it? The one I have looks like it is going to be a feequent bloomer. I cut off an old spike, it has 2 spikes in bud now, and there are about 3 new growth too. I hope your multiplies good also.

It,s only just starting to show signs of movement.For the last 2 months or so(since i removed spike) it,s done nothing.

I think you are very brave. I don't have the guts to do s/h. Does it work like humidity pebbles? I've seen it with round pebble- looking- objects and about an inch of water on the bottom. Does it get the water through evaporation?

Traci, I didn't see this post for a while. The s/h thing still perplexes me a bit but I am a very classic overwaterer so I think it is good for me. I can't properly explain it but the ceramic pellets retain water so that the roots stay moist and not wet. At the bottom is a resevoir of water with holes in the pot about 1 inch up. So water stays in the resevoir until it evaporates. I have seen some pictures of orchids in s/h for a year or more and their roots are amazing. Plus, supposedly, you can't overwater it. check out www.firstrays.com for a thorough explanation.

I am the same way - never diagnosed, but definitely a visual learner...one reason I enjoyed working in education. Very attuned to the multiple disciplines because of that background...Not creative enough but still learned a lot about personality differences.
