I was visiting my folks down in FL maybe five years ago, and I was bored, so I grabbed some little Zebco rod they had for my nephews, and cast a few times into the lake off their back yard. Lo and behold, I caught me a good-sized large-mouth bass!

I hollered into the house and my mother came out at the ruckus and begged me to let the poor thing go. Images of fresh bass for dinner evaporated. But before I released it, I insisted she take a pic. Since no one ever believes fish stories.

The photo is around here somewhere... There I am, holding up my fish - who has his mouth fully deployed - trying to match his spread.

    It's pretty funny!

Aha! A fish story. You show me your pic I'll show you mine.
Actually, I didn't really catch my fish, I, uh, found it. See, it was like this. I set up a cane pole at my sister's house on de canal off Tickfaw River in the bayou. Put it all nice in a spring loaded rod holder on the bulkhead and let the bait drift (the lazy man's fisher getting). Went out later to check and the bait be gone, de line be gone, an' de rod be gone! Thought me some sneaky catcherperson done swiped my pole. Brother-n-law don' take too kindly to losin his prize canepole so we put in the pirogue and went huntin'. Found de rod atangle on some water lilies down the way and I grabbed 'er up. Lo' an' behol' de fish still on! So's I han' line 'im in (he one tired fish) and we had sum fin' fresh bass on the cooker. Das my story and I'm stickin to it.
