    Default Vanda cristata

I hadn't realized that there were Vandas that flowered at such a small size. This lil guy was in a display at the MSU show.

The lip pattern reminded me a bit of a coelogyne I had seen. Entire plant was maybe 4 inches high and 6 inches in spread -- if that. Flower was quite big for the size of the plant. Came close to buying one of these but a couple other plants called a little more loudly.

That's really interesting! I've only seen Trudelia cristata in large sizes...

This vanda-related species has been on my wish list like forever. It has been very difficult to find any vendor with this one for sale. I like it because I heard it is a cool to intermediate growing species, my kind of plants!
It is a pretty thing, pavel! Thanks for posting it. Fragrant, I hope?
    Cheers. Hoa.

i know this post is years old, but i love this vanda. i think it's a vanda again now...? there are so many cool growing (and cool looking) vandas that come from this guy. this may be sort of an 'ugly duckling' orchid, but it's children are spectacular. i just bloomed a vanda paki, its offspring. still a bit of an ugly duckling maybe, but just as interesting and weird and pretty in a cartoon alien sticking its tongue out at you sort of way. i wish i could find a cristata, but they are very hard to find. i want to also find Ascocenda Rumrill which is half cristata, and looks similar in shape and color as the nakamotoara newberry apricot, but vanda sized. also very hard to find.

Very nice! You have a plant that I think I have out back...but I may need to buy another one just to make sure. LOL Love the lip on these crazy things!
