    Default Encyclia Hereford Jewel

First blooming season of this small plant for me, and I'm pleased with it because it sent up four spikes which are covered with the pretty small blossoms. The overall effect is more showy than I expected, and I'm enjoying it. Funny fragrance though, somewhere between the scent of soap and mothballs! Can be pretty strong at times. The plant is in S/H.

Lovely....I cautiously added it to my wish list. None of my encyclias are totally happy. We'll see what happens, maybe it's a colorado/montana thing!

Hey, it'll be fun to see how they do when you get to Colorado. I've only had my three encyclias for about 6 months, and they have all taken off. I have them in my sunniest south window and in S/H, and so far they have been effortless.

Can you tell me what semi-hydroponic means? Or maybe there is an old post somewhere that I should read...I'm just curious, bc many post keep mentioning S/H and I'm not sure what that means ;-)
