just tap water here.
I use tap water that I let stand so the chlorine can evaporate and rain water for my phrags.
I have 2 fishtanks and never thought of using their water. Is it safe for the orchids?/
Our tap water is very hard and treated with chlorine etc. I only use it on my plants outdoors, and then after letting it sit at least overnight in the watering can. Most of the time I'm using either double distilled or ultrapure water - which I get free at work - that I lug home in 2 L bottles.
I have been using straight RO water. Today I used RO mixed with 10-15% well water (way ton of solids!).
For plants in my terrariums and for my cp's I use R/O water [store here sells it in bulk ... $0.29/gal if you bring your own container]. Trying to avoid mineral build up in the terrs and cp's are often very sensitive to water quality.
Rain water when & what little I can gather. Living in an apartment, best I can do usually is throw some plants on the balconey or a couple buckets.
When fertilzing or for those not in the terr, tap generally has to suffice.

Assuming your tanks are fresh water... yes. Especially if the water is from "cleaning day" with all the fish poop.
Filtered tap water. I have a chorine filter on my shower-head. Considering all the gunk that collects in the filter, it's a whole lot better than plain tap (which is what I drink, LOL!)
So what category is that, Thumb?

NYC tap water, low in dissolved salts.
$0.29?? for a gallon of RO water? We get charged 70p a gallon so that's about $1.40.
It's not just orchids that are more expensive over here!
