Default Cleaning up my new vanda

The local grower is moving and had a "going out of business sale", so I picked up a few plants for cheep.

being new to the world of orchids, I had no idea what I was getting or what to do with them. After a little research I found vandas like bright light, warm temps and moist air.

This vanda was hanging under a rack, just off the floor. It has mineral deposits on the leaves, a few brown spots and a broken pot. Price, $5.00 US.

The tag says "Vanda, Aseda, John Debiase, orange". Any info would be helpfull.

How can I clean the calcium from the leaves?

Should I repot this, bare-root in a basket or leave it alone for now?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

To clean it up, just take it out side and hose it down and use a rag and wipe away the white deposits. I agree with Murray, no need to repot. You could set this pot inside a larger one if it is falling over from the top heavy plant. Just give the roots lots of room to breath.

    Cheers,

nice huge plant!, a great buy.

Since you are in California, I'm assuming you can even grow it outside for part of the year? I'm not sure if they plants do as well as houseplants though it has been done before
