That is so interesting! Someday I'm going to try it. I've seen pictures of little orchid protocorms growing all over the surface of the agar. So cool!

Thanks folks for the pictures as you work through the whole process. I'm just mad about plants but need to tinker so much that I worry them to death sometimes. I also love the thinking about what will come from nothing - so the seed process is just what will keep me going through the winter. It doesn't take up much space, there are plenty of cheap seeds ---. And I can dream. So, how long does it take to see any action? Can people post what it looks like once it starts to germinate? I grew adenium seeds last year and they germinate overnight. Very satisfying to see the speed of growth. I did try maple tree seeds, but they did not take at all.

    Hi,
I had read your very descriptive guide. Thank you very much for the clear intrustions and pictures. It is very helpfull. I have a green pod that going to be due very soon. It was polinated by the bees I think. I had try to sow a orchid seed before and fail badly. I'm going to try again after reading your intruction; however if you don't mind let me know what kind of lighting do you use to keep the seed after sowing so it can grow. I read before that it need to be in light for at least 8 hrs a day and the rest is complete darkness. Is it sound right to you? If you don't mind sharing your experience on that part. Thank you in advance.

Hi All, I enjoyed the thread. Keep it going! I'm always looking for ways to improve on things and your posts are very helpful. I became interested in flasking orchids about 3 years ago. It took a lot of reading, some great advice to get going but of course with something like this the learning never ends:-) Everyone has their own methods and whatever works should be considered the best!

Thanks again everyone for the helpful info in the thread.
