This is C. Hybrida which was the first Catt. cross made. It was created back in 1863, made from two Cattleya species: C. loddigesii x C. guttata. Mine is not as spotty as some but I love it anyway.

It's charming, I really love the shade of pink.. or rose...
very nice smooth color!
Great! It's important that we don't lose these early plants, Judi
I really love the shade of pink.
Lovely pic! Thanks for the history lesson too!
Is that a fact !?! lol I wonder if anybody knows who made the cross ?! (I love facts !! :o)
That is fairly easy to find out the RHS keeps records of all orchid registrations. Hybrida was registered by Veitch. Vietch family were English nurserymen. I would suspect it was this gentleman. Veitch, John Gould - biography or his father, James http://links.jstor.org/sici?sici=030...3E2.0.CO%3B2-O
The history of the early years of orchid collecting is amazing. The Veitch family had people all over the world collecting rare plants.
